Cochrane Library - an evidence-based medicine database collection; contains several types of high quality evidence (systematic reviews, trials and more) for decision making in health care.

EMBASE - (Excerpta Medica Database) a biomedical and pharmacological database produced by Elsevier B.V. Contains bibliographic records with citations, abstracts and indexes derived from biomedical articles in peer reviewed journals, and is particularly important for its coverage of pharmaceutical, pharmacology and toxicology research. Journal of Citation Report - Impact Factors - contains information on the bibliometric indexes of scientific journals included in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) and in the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI).

SPORTDiscus - Full-text database for sports medicine literature.

UpToDate Anywhere - (We suggest accessing the database from the homepage Pinalievidence-based clinical information platform, provides answers to questions that may arise during daily clinical practice.

Web of Science - bibliographic research platform that includes several international and regional databases, designed to support scientific and academic research; it indexes more than 34,000 journals, as well as books, proceedings, patents, and datasets.



Open access academic and specialist information resources and search engines


BASE - Bielefeld Academic Search Engine - BASE is one of the most voluminous search engines in the world especially for academic web resources. Provides over 240 million documents. The full texts of around 60% of the indexed documents can be accessed free of charge (open access). It is managed by the Bielefeld University Library. Guida.pdf

Clinical Trials - a database of clinical trials conducted around the world; a resource provided by the National Library of Medicine.

Google Scholar - It is an easy way to search academic literature. Research different disciplines and sources: articles, theses, books, abstracts, from academic publishers, professional societies, online archives, universities and other websites. Guida.pdf

Ot Seeker - contains abstracts of systematic reviews, randomized controlled trials and other resources, provides quick and easy access to information from a wide range of sources.

PEDro - Physiotherapy Evidence - The database of evidence in physiotherapy (or PEDro for short) offers all physiotherapists easy access to high-quality research. It offers access to over 48,000 RCTs, systematic reviews and guidelines relevant to physiotherapy.

ToxNet - a network of databases dedicated to toxicology and environmental health, managed and administered by the Toxicology and Environmental Health Information; during 2020 most of the toxicological information services were integrated into other products and services of the National Library of Medicine.
